Little Ruben lived in a black-and-white world. He knew something was missing, but he didnt quite know what. That changes one day, when he fell right into a bright, beautiful world filled with all the colors of the rainbow. This whimsical story, told in two languages, makes a wonderful introduction to Spanish for young readers. Accompanied by an entertaining read-along audio track, readers of all ages can develop an ear for the rhythm and melody of the Spanish language, and learn the correct pronunciation. Rubens Rainbow is the first title in a continuing series.

Written as a way for the author and illustrator to keep Spanish alive and vibrant in their own childrens lives, Rubens Rainbow has been used in classrooms across the United States to teach Spanish to English-speakers, and offered as a resource by the National Head Start Association to teach English to Spanish speakers. Rubens Rainbow was a Fall 2001 BookSense 76 Pick, winner of the Latino Literary Hall of Fame Award for Best Bilingual Childrens Book, and a finalist for the Benjamin Franklin Award.
